Summary:Method for assaying potential therapeutic agents, such as antitumor agents, based on their modulation of the expression of specified genes, especially genes mapping to the long arm of chromosome 5, or their ability to inhibit or other wise counteract the activity of mutated or truncated polypeptides encoded by said genes, are disclosed, along with methods for diagnosing cancerous, or potentially cancerous, conditions as a result of the mutation and/or disruption of said genes. Also disclosed are the sequences of genes whose dis-regulation is correlated with the development of the cancerous state. Cette invention concerne une méthode de dosage d'agents thérapeutiques potentiels, tels que des agents antitumoraux, reposant sur leur modulation de l'expression de gènes spécifiés, en particulier de gènes correspondant au bras long du chromosome 5, ou sur leur aptitude à inhiber ou à compenser l'activité de polypeptides mutés ou tronqués codés par ces gènes. Cette invention concerne également des méthodes permettant de diagnostiquer des états cancéreux ou potentiellement cancéreux résultant de la mutation et/ou de la disruption de ces gènes. Cette invention concerne en outre les séquences de gènes dont la dérégulation est corrélée au développement de l'état cancéreux.
