The test compounds could be small molecule drugs used for treatment of obesity, diabetes, insulin resistance, and for enhancement of insulin secretion. Target polypeptides and their corresponding nucleic acids as well as their variants are also disclosed. L'invention concerne des procédés d'identification de composés qui modulent l'activité d'un polypeptide cible, dans lesquels un composé de test est combiné à un polypeptide cible et à un substrat du polypeptide cible, et dans lequel une détermination est réalisée selon que le composé de test module l'activité du polypeptide cible. Les composés de test peuvent être des médicaments à petites molécules utilisées dans le traitement de l'obésité, du diabète, de la résistance à l'insuline ou pour favoriser la sécrétion d'insuline. Des polypeptides cibles et leurs acides nucléiques correspondants, ainsi que leurs variantes sont également décrits dans cette invention.
