A hardening accelerator for cationic polymerization type composition, and a composition containing the same. In particular, a hardening accelerator for use in cationic polymerization type composition, the cationic polymerization type composition excelling in surface hardening characteristics and hardening rate in air and capable of providing a hardened film of excellent adherence and surface hardness; and a composition containing the hardening accelerator. Compound (A) having in its molecule one or more substituents of the following general formula (1) alone realizes rapid initiation of cationic polymerization and induces rapid growing reaction. Further, the compound (A) can be used as a hardening accelerator for compounds having one or more ring-opening type cyclic ether groups in each molecule. (1) wherein R1 represents a C1-C6 branched or unbranched alkyl, and Z represents an oxygen atom. La présente invention concerne un accélérateur de durcissement destiné à une composition de type à polymérisation cationique, et une composition le contenant. L'invention concerne en particulier un accélérateur de durcissement utilisé dans une composition de type à polymérisation cationique ayant d'excellentes propriétés de durcissement de surface et une excellente vitesse de durcissement dans l'air, et capable de donner un film durci qui a d'excellentes dureté de surface et adhérence; et une composition contenant l'accélérateur de durcissement. Le composé (A) présentant dans sa molécule un ou plusieurs substituants de formule générale (1) permet à lui seul d'obtenir une rapide mise en route de la polymérisation cationique, et d'induire une réaction de croissance rapide. De plus, le composé (A) peut être utilisé en tant qu'accélérateur de durcissement pour des composés présentant dans chaque molécule un ou plusieurs groupes éther cycliques de type à cycles ouverts. Dans la formule (1), R1 représente un alkyle en C1-C6 ramifié ou non, et Z représente un atome d'oxygène.
