A pure lactoferrin polypeptide containing no more than two metal ions per molecule, or a mixture of the polypeptide and a fragment thereof. The polypeptide or the mixture stimulates skeletal growth and inhibits bone resorption. Also disclosed is a method of treating a bone-related disorder with the polypeptide or the mixture. L'invention concerne un polypeptide purifié de type lactoferrine, ne contenant pas plus de deux ions métalliques par molécule, ou un mélange dudit polypeptide et d'un fragment de ce dernier. Ce polypeptide ou mélange stimule la croissance du squelette et inhibe la résorption osseuse. Ladite invention concerne également une méthode de traitement d'un trouble osseux à l'aide dudit polypeptide ou mélange.
