A patient support (10) is provided that includes a frame (11), a mattress (13) positioned over the frame (11), and a siderail (320). The siderail (320) includes a rail member (340) having a longitudinal axis (398) and a linkage assembly (342) configured to permit movement of the rail member (340) between a raised position blocking egress of a patient positioned on the mattress (13) and a lowered position permitting egress. The linkage assembly (342) has a longitudinal axis (343) that deviates from being perpendicular to and deviates from being parallel with the longitudinal axis (398) of the rail member (340) at all times during movement of the rail member (340) from the raised to lowered position. La présente invention concerne un support pour patient (10) comportant un bâti (11), un matelas (13) mis sur le bâti (11) et un côté de lit (320). Ce côté de lit (320) comporte un élément de ridelle (340) dont l'axe longitudinal (398) et le montage (342) sont configurés pour permettre un mouvement du côté de lit (340) entre une position relevée interdisant la sortie du patient allongé sur le matelas (13) et une position abaissée permettant la sortie.
