Aux fins de l'invention, la zone centrale d'un coeur multimode est dopée au moyen d'un milieu actif qui absorbe la lumière d'excitation pour engendrer un gain. Par ailleurs, on dope au moins une zone située à la périphérie du coeur multimode en contact avec la gaine ou la zone centrale de la gaine en contact avec le coeur multimode, au moyen d'un milieu d'absorption qui absorbe l'énergie lumineuse des signaux.
