Summary: | A reflective/transmissive liquid crystal display apparatus is disclosed. A liquid crystal display apparatus capable of performing high definition display without increasing the power consumption of the back light and capable of assuring luminance equivalent to a display apparatus performing only the transmissive display, thereby assuring luminance required in the reflective display. The liquid crystal display apparatus includes a display panel having a pixel area where transmissive areas (B) and reflective areas (A) are arranged in parallel. The light transmittance in the transmissive areas (B) is set to 4 to 10%. The reflectance in the reflective areas (A) is set to 1 to 30%. The present invention can be applied to electronic devices such as a cellular information terminal, a cellular telephone, and a digital camera.
