Summary:A car−mounted display such that the visibility of the displayed image from the driver's seat and the front passenger's seat is improved and the reflection of the displayed image in the front door windows is eliminated and a car navigation system using the display as a monitor are disclosed. When a liquid crystal display is installed at the center of the dashboard, the variation of the luminance or contrast is so set as to be below about 20 dB (ten times) in the range up to about 40° to the left and right from the center. Therefore, the visibility from both the driver's seat and the front passenger's seat is made most suitable. The luminance or contrast is so set as to decrease by −20 dB or more in the range over about 40° from the center to the left and right. A car-mounted display such that the visibility of the displayed image from the driver's seat and the front passenger's seat is improved and the reflection of the displayed image in the front door windows is eliminated and a car navigation system using the display as a monitor are disclosed. When a liquid crystal display is installed at the center of the dashboard, the variation of the luminance or contrast is so set as to be below about 20 dB ten times in the range up to about 40° to the left and right from the center. Therefore, the visibility from both the driver's seat and the front passenger's seat is made most suitable. The luminance or contrast is so set as to decrease by -20 dB or more in the range over about 40° from the center to the left and right.
