Micro channel array devices drawn from a bulk preform having an array of components to reduce the cross section. The reduced cross section fiber like structure is cut to produce individual arrays of small scale. End caps are drawn and optionally micro machined. The end caps are used to provide input and output ports and other structures for use with the micro channel arrays. A micro channel array may be used with different end caps for analysis and may form a lab on a chip or a component thereof. L'invention concerne des dispositifs à matrice microcanaux tirés à partir d'une préforme en vrac ayant une matrice de composants pour réduire la section transversale. La structure de type fibreux de section transversale réduite est coupée de façon à produire des matrices individuelles à petite échelle. Les embouts sont tirés et éventuellement micro-usinés. Ces embouts servent à produire des ports d'entrée et de sortie ainsi que d'autres structures utilisées avec des matrices microcanaux. On peut utiliser une matrice microcanaux avec différents embouts pour analyse; elle peut en outre former un laboratoire sur puce ou un composant de celui-ci.
