The present invention provides a portable patient turning and lifting device (10) and associated methods for turning and lifting an immobilized patient. The device (10) comprises at least one inflation support bladder (30) configured to be secured between the patient's body (20) and the patient supporting surface (12) such as a bed. The bladder is inflated with pressurized fluid. The inflation bladder (30) is secured by a body support having at least one support pad (16) on which the patient is positioned. An embodiment provides two inflatable turning bladders (30, 32) oriented on the left and right sides of the back of the body support (12). At least one fluid pump system (80) is provided in communication with the bladders (30, 32) and is fitted with a controller (126) to tailor the sequencing and timing of the inflation to reposition the patient's body. The present invention provides a portable patient turning and lifting device and associated methods for turning and lifting an immobilized patient. The device comprises at least one inflation bladder configured to be secured between the patient's body and the patient supporting surface, such as a bed. The bladder is inflated with pressurized fluid. Preferably, the inflation bladder is secured by a body support having at least one support pad on which the patient is positioned. An embodiment provides two inflatable turning bladders oriented on the left and right sides of the back of the body support. Preferably, at least one fluid pump is provided in communication with the bladders, and it is preferably fitted with a controller to tailor the sequencing and timing of the inflation to reposition the patient's body. La présente invention concerne un dispositif portatif permettant de soulever et de tourner des patients et des méthodes associées permettant de tourner et de soulever un patient immobilisé. Ce dispositif comprend au moins une vessie gonflable conçue pour être fixée entre le corps du patient et la surface supportant le patient, tel qu'un lit. La vessie est gonflée avec du fluide pressurisé. De préférence, la vessie gonflable est fixée à l'aide d'un soutien du corps présentant au moins un coussin de soutien sur lequel le patient est positionné.
