Es werden ein Verfahren zur Nutzung von Informationen einer Station (1) eines Informationsanbieters, ein Kommunikationsendgerät (5), eine Zentrale (15) und die Station (1) des Informationsanbieters vorgeschlagen, die eine endgeräteunabhängige Abfrage einer Ortsinformationskennung von der Station (1) des Informationsanbieters ermöglichen. Die Informationen des Informationsanbieters sollen dabei in Form von Ortsinformationen in einer Mittels des Kommunikationsendgerätes (5) nutzbaren Anwendung (10), insbesondere einer Navigationsanwendung, nutzbar sein. Von der Station (1) wird eine den Ortsinformationen zugeordnete Ortsinformationskennung bei der Zentrale (15) abgefragt. Für den Fall einer Abfrage der Ortsinformationen durch das Kommunikationsendgerät (5) bei der Station (1) wird die Ortsinformationskennung von der Station (1) an das Kommunikationsendgerät (5) übertragen. Zusammen mit einer Abfrage der zugeordneten Ortsinformationen werden die empfangene Ortsinformationskennung und eine der mittels des Kommunikationsendgerätes (5) nutzbaren Anwendung (10) zugeordnete Anwendungskennung von Kommunikationsendgerät (5) zur Zentrale (15) übertragen.
