The present invention is directed to a process for preparing a catalyst which comprises combining catalyst components or precursors thereof in an aqueous medium to form a catalyst precursor mixture, feeding the mixture to a shaping apparatus, and shaping the mixture to form particles wherein just before the shaping step the mixture is destabilised. It was found that with this process catalysts can be prepared which have both a good attrition resistance and a high accessibility. The invention further relates to catalysts obtainable by this process. L'invention concerne un procédé de préparation d'un catalyseur, qui comporte les étapes consistant à : combiner des composants de catalyseur ou des précurseurs de ceux-ci dans un milieu aqueux afin de former un mélange de précurseurs de catalyseur ; charger le mélange dans un dispositif de façonnage et façonner le mélange en vue de former des particules, ce mélange étant déstabilisé juste avant l'étape de façonnage. Le procédé permet d'obtenir des catalyseurs présentant une résistance élevée à l'usure par frottement ainsi qu'une pénétrabilité élevée. L'invention concerne de plus les catalyseurs produits à l'aide du procédé.
