A class of 3-phenylimidazo[1,2-a]pyrimidine derivatives, substituted at the meta position of the phenyl ring by an optionally substituted aryl or heteroaryl group which is directly attached or bridged by an oxygen atom or a -NH- linkage, and further substituted on the phenyl ring by alkyl, trifluoromethyl, alkoxy or one or two halogen atoms, especially fluoro, are selective ligands for GABAA receptors, in particular having good affinity for the a2 and/or a3 and/or a5 subunit thereof, and are accordingly of benefit in the treatment and/or prevention of adverse conditions of the central nervous system, including anxiety, convulsions and cognitive disorders. L'invention concerne une classe de dérivés de 3-phénylimidazo[1,2-a]pyrimidine, substitués d'une part dans la méta position du cycle phénylique par un groupe aryle ou hétéroaryle éventuellement substitué lequel est directement lié ou ponté par un atome d'oxygène ou une liaison -NH-, et d'autres part dans le cycle phénylique par un alkyle, un trifluorométhyle, un alcoxy ou un ou deux atomes d'halogène, particulièrement le fluorure. Ces dérivés sont des ligands sélectifs pour les récepteurs GABAA, et présentent en particulier une bonne affinité pour la sous-unité alpha 2 et/ou alpha 3 et/ou alpha 5 de ceux-ci ; ils sont par conséquent bénéfiques dans le traitement et/ou la prévention de conditions défavorables du système nerveux, notamment l'anxiété, les convulsions et les troubles cognitifs.
