An air bag device (10) having an inflator (16) stored at the bottom of an upwardly opening case (12) and an air bag (14) stored on the upper opening side thereof, comprising a cylindrical diffuser (18) surrounding the outer periphery of the inflator (16) and a partition wall (40) projecting toward the case opening side and dividing an air bag storage space into front and rear parts provided on the diffuser (18), wherein the air bag (14) is stored dividedly on the vehicle front and rear sides of the partition wall (40), and the bottom part of the diffuser (18) is fixed to the bottom surface of the case (12) with the mouth parts (32) of the air bag (14) overlapped with each other below the diffuser (18) so as to fix the air bag mouth part (32) to the case (12), whereby the air bag device easy in air bag expanding behavior control and excellent in assemblage of the air bag into the case regardless of the compactness thereof can be provided. L'invention concerne un système d'airbag (10) présentant un dispositif de gonflage (16) logé au fond d'un boîtier (12) s'ouvrant vers le haut, et un airbag (14) logé sur le côté d'ouverture supérieur dudit boîtier. Ce système comprend un diffuseur cylindrique (18) entourant la périphérie extérieure du dispositif de gonflage (16) et une paroi de séparation (40) faisant saillie vers le côté d'ouverture du boîtier et divisant un espace de logement de l'airbag en des parties avant et arrière situées sur le diffuseur (18). L'airbag (14) est logé à cheval sur les côtés avant et arrière du véhicule, de chaque côté de la paroi de séparation (40). La partie inférieure du diffuseur (18) est fixée à la surface inférieure du boîtier (12), les parties latérales (32) de l'airbag (14) se chevauchant sous le diffuseur (18) de façon à fixer la partie latérale d'airbag (32) au boîtier (12). Ce système d'airbag permet de contrôler facilement le comportement d'expansion de l'airbag et de placer l'airbag dans le boîtier, quelle que soit la compacité de ce dernier.
