A medical information system (Fig. 2-30) and method that stores and manages patient information and that enables a patient (Fig. 2-12) and an authorized third party, such as a friend or family member, to access the patient's medical information. The presentation format, substance of the patient's medical information provided, or both are customized depending on whether the patient (Fig. 2-12), a healthcare professional (Fig. 2-16) or the third party (Fig. 2-40) is accessing the patient's medical information. The present invention also pertains to a method of subsidizing such a medical information system (Fig. 2-30) by selling advertising space in the presentation shown to the third party, patient or healthcare professional. The present invention further pertains to a patient interface appliance that includes a display containing multiple viewing fields, one of which is a general information field and one of which is an advertising field, to present information and advertisements to a user during a patient interactive session. Patient participation in conducting the survey is fostered by offering a survey completion reward to the patient upon completing the survey. L'invention concerne un système d'informations médicales (Fig. 2-30) et un procédé permettant, d'une part, de stocker et de gérer des informations sur un patient et, d'autre part, d'autoriser un patient (Fig. 2-12) et un tiers habilité, tel qu'un ami ou un membre de la famille, à accéder à ces informations médicales. Le format de présentation et le contenu des informations médicales d'un patient peuvent être personnalisés en fonction de l'accès par un patient (Fig. 2-12), un professionnel de santé (Fig. 2 à 16) ou un tiers (Fig. 2-40) aux informations médicales. L'invention concerne également un procédé permettant de subventionner le système (Fig. 2-30) grâce à la vente d'espaces publicitaires dans la présentation destinée au tiers, au patient ou au professionnel de santé. L'invention concerne également un système interface patient comprenant un affichage présentant plusieurs champs de visualisation, l'un de ces champs consistant en un champ destiné aux informations d'ordre général, et l'autre champ consistant en un champ publicitaire. Ledit affichage permet de présenter des informations et des annonces publicitaires à un utilisateur pendant une session interactive du patient. La participation du patient à l'enquête est encouragée par une récompense qui est offerte pour toute enquête complétée.
