The present invention relates to methods of reducing sun-induced fade of the colour applied to fibres such as hair, especially human hair, by means of artificial colouring agents, especially oxidative colouring agents, and to compositions for use in such methods; wherein said method utilises a treatment composition comprising a salt or complex of a transition metal or rare earth metal, or mixtures thereof. La présente invention concerne des méthodes qui permettent de réduire la décoloration par le soleil d'une couleur appliquée sur des fibres telles que des cheveux, en particulier des cheveux naturels, au moyen d'agents colorants artificiels, notamment des colorants oxydants. Elle concerne également des compositions de traitement associées à ces méthodes, qui comprennent un sel ou un complexe d'un métal de transition ou d'un métal des terres rares, ou leurs mélanges.
