Summary:A vacuum case (10) of a display device comprises a back substrate (12) and a front substrate (11) opposed to each other, and a wall (18) provided between the substrates. A fluorescent screen (16) is formed on the inner side of the front substrate, and electron-emitting elements (22) are provided on the back substrate. An indium layer (32) is formed between the front substrate and the sidewall. The indium is melted in a vacuum to bond the front and back substrates with the sidewall in between. Selon l'invention, l'enveloppe (10) sous vide d'un dispositif d'affichage comprend un substrat arrière (12) et un substrat avant (11) opposés, ainsi qu'une paroi (18) disposée entre lesdits substrats. Un écran fluorescent (16) est formé sur le côté intérieur du substrat avant, le substrat arrière étant pourvu d'éléments (22) émettant des électrons. Une couche (32) d'indium est formée entre le substrat avant et la paroi. On fait fondre l'indium sous vide de manière à lier les substrats avant et arrière à la paroi intermédiaire.
