A dye fixing agent in an aqueous ink receiving layer for use in an ink-jet recording medium having a substrate and, laminated thereon, an aqueous ink receiving layer, the dye fixing agent for an aqueous ink comprising a hydrotalcite compound containing silicate anion and sulfate ion, or silicate anion as an anion, and lithium metal; and an ink-jet recording medium having a substrate and, laminated thereon, the fixing agent for an aqueous ink receiving layer. The dye fixing agent for an aqueous ink is excellent in the performance capabilities for fixing an aqueous ink, and the ink-jet recording medium is excellent with respect to the resolution of an image recorded thereon, water resistance and light resistance.
