Summary:(1) An adsorbent made of a styrene polymer, characterized by being produced by dissolving a mainly syndiotactic styrene polymer in an organic compound having an affinity for the polymer, subjecting the obtained solution to molding, and removing the organic compound from the resulting molded article, (2) an adsorbent as set forth in the item (1) wherein the molding is conducted by melt casting, and (3) an adsorbent as set forth in the item (1) or (2) wherein the removal of the organic compound is conducted by vaporization under a reduced pressure. These adsorbents can selectively and efficiently adsorb organic compounds contained in gases or liquids.
