Summary:Inhibitors for optic hypofunction caused by optic nerve cell injury induced by factors other than optic circulatory disorder which contain as the active ingredient 1,4-dihydropyridine derivatives represented general formula (I) or acid addition salts thereof: wherein X and X are the same or different and each represents hydrogen, fluoromethyl, fluoromethoxy, halogeno, cyano or nitro; R represents lower alkyl; R represents acyl, alkoxycarbonyl, acylalkyl, N-alkylated carbamoylalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, alkoxycarbonylalkyl, acyloxyalkyl, nitratoalkyl, cyanoalkyl, heterocycle-alkyl, haloalkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl; A represents alkylene having at least five carbon atoms in total and having carbon to which two alkyl groups are attached; and m is an integer of from 1 to 3.
