A personal computer which is a controller transmits a Reserve request for reserving a remote control. An MD recorder/player which is a target prohibits remote controls from other controllers as an evidence of a reserving mode to be set in response to the reception of the request and also prohibits the key operations, except for replaying, stopping and ejecting, of local keys, whereby an operation control such as updating TOC information of an MD recorder/player is permitted only by the personal computer to thereby avoid mismatching of TOC information between the personal computer and the MD recorder/player that might be generated by other controllers and local key operations. Un ordinateur individuel utilisé comme unité de commande transmet une demande de réserve pour la réservation d'une commande à distance. Un enregistreur/lecteur MD, utilisé comme cible, empêche les commandes à distance émanant d'autres unités de commande, comme preuve d'un mode de réservation à établir en réponse à la réception de la demande, ainsi que les opérations-clés, excepté pour la relecture, l'arrêt et l'éjection de clés locales, de telle sorte qu'une commande d'opération, telle qu'une mise à jour d'information TOC d'un enregistreur/lecteur MD n'est autorisée que par l'ordinateur individuel, évitant ainsi la désadaptation d'information TOC entre l'ordinateur individuel et l'enregistreur/lecteur MD qui pourrait résulter d'autres unités de commande et opérations-clés locales.
