Summary:A method, computer program product, and/or system for maximizing hardware capabilities of a network interface card are provided. To maximize hardware capabilities of the network interface card, a media access control address for associating with the network interface card is received and a number of media access control addresses defined to the network interface card is compared to a maximum threshold of the network interface card. Then, in response to when the number is equal to or exceeds the maximum threshold of the network interface card, a promiscuous mode is enabled for network interface card and the media access control address is associated with the network interface card.
