Summary:The invention relates to a process for producing a water-absorbing material by coating water-absorbing polymer particles with a film-forming polyurethane and silica, heat treating the coated particles and coating the heat-treated particles with pyrogenic hydrophilic silica. The invention further relates to the water-absorbing material obtainable according to the process of the invention. The water-absorbing material has improved wicking ability (FHA) and core shell saline flow conductivity (CS-SFC).
