Summary:A sensor is provided having an array of electrostatic sensor elements with each sensor element being capable of producing a respective output signal when the sensor is directed to a region of an object being sensed, the output signals being separately available at the sensor output to provide information relating to the electrostatic charge distribution across the region, and the sensor being configured such that at least two electrostatic sensor element are interlinked by means of a differential input charge amplifier, each input to the differential input charge amplifier includes a decoupling device, and the differential input charge amplifier is associated with an integrating or augmenting amplifier to further condition the image signal presented to the controller.
