Summary:The present invention provides a system and method for abstracting multiple network attached storage ("NAS") locations, providing a single global namespace and a single mount point that is protocol and location-independent. As a result, rather than identifying each NAS and file server by location, access is provided through a single transparent mechanism. In order to maintain transparency, the present invention provides a way to reconcile the different naming practices for different file server protocols.
