Summary:A vehicle authentication device has an in-vehicle device mounted on a vehicle, an authentication unit disposed in the in-vehicle device, for matching an ID returned from a portable device in response to a request from the in-vehicle device and performing an authentication of the vehicle, and an operation switch for instructing a power supply transition of the vehicle. The in-vehicle device has a measurement unit for measuring a duration of an active state of the operation switch, a determination unit for determining whether the duration exceeds a predetermined time, and a control unit for executing a power supply transition control of the vehicle based on the determination that the duration time of the active state of the operation switch exceeds the predetermined time made by the determination unit and an authentication result of the authentication unit.
