A display apparatus includes an organic electroluminescent element that emits blue light, an organic electroluminescent element that emits green light, and an organic electroluminescent element that emits red light. An optical adjustment layer provided on the organic electroluminescent element that emits red light has a thickness d1 that satisfies the following mathematical expression: (4m1−2 1/ −3)λ1/(8n1)<d1<(4m1−2 1/ −1)λ1/(8n1) where λ1 denotes a maximum peak wavelength of a spectrum of light emitted from the organic electroluminescent element that emits red light, n1 denotes a refractive index of the optical adjustment layer at the maximum peak wavelength λ1, 1 denotes a phase shift of light output from the organic electroluminescent element that emits red light when the light emitted therefrom is reflected at an interface of the optical adjustment layer that is opposite to a second electrode, and m1 denotes a positive integer.
