Summary:A process for preparing amines comprises reacting an epoxide of the formula (I)where R<1 , R<2 , R<3 and R<4 are each, independently of one another, hydrogen or a linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated C2 -C200 -hydrocarbon radical, with ammonia and hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst, where the molar ratio of ammonia:epoxide is from 5:1 to 500:1 and the hydrogen pressure is from 10 bar to 500 bar.
