Summary:Solid dosage articles such as pharmaceutical tablets for the controlled release of a desired compound such as an active ingredient are directly compressed from a flowable, compressible mixture of the active ingredient, a slightly cross-linked rheology modifying polymer or copolymer, and one or more excipients. The rheology modifying polymer or copolymer is a granulated powder of suitable particle size and is generally made from one or more unsaturated (di)carboxylic acids, half ester thereof, and other optional monomers.
