Reaction Bonded Ceramics for Ceramic Composite Materials Comprising Mullite as the Main Component and Corundum and Thortveitite or Cerianite as Minor Components The present invention pertains to reaction bonded mullite-containing ceramic molded parts, a process for their preparation and their use. A particular embodiment of the present invention consists in reaction bonded mullite-containing ceramic molded parts, obtainable by the heat-treatment of a finely dispersed mixture of an aluminum-containing material, a silicon-containing material, and a rare earth metal-containing material in an oxygen-containing atmosphere.
