Summary: | An MRI apparatus has a plurality of shim coils 102 and gradient magnetic field coils 104, which are connected to power sources 103 and 105 respectively. These power sources are controlled by a computer 112 to correct intensity of a static magnetic field generated by a magnet. For this purpose, the power sources 103 and 105 supply composite current of DC and AC so that the shim coils and the gradient magnetic field coils generate a rotating magnetic field. As a result, the uniformity of the static magnetic field in a region of an object under examination is improved and image distortion is suppressed. The MRI apparatus can be effectively applied to a fast imaging technique, an imaging technique where NMR signals of adipose tissue are suppressed, and a high resolution spectrum. |
