Summary:A computer-based apparatus provides access to complex technical information needed, for example, to maintain and repair complicated equipment, such as a motor vehicle. The apparatus includes a processor unit and a selectively detachable remotely operated interactive display for accessing information from the processor unit and displaying the information, as well as controlling the functions of the processor unit. The processor unit and display unit communicate over a bi-directional communications cable or, alternatively, over a wireless communication link.
