More Information
Summary:Human CGRP-RCF polypeptides and DNA (RNA) encoding such CGRP-RCF and a procedure for producing such polypeptides by recombinant techniques is disclosed. Also disclosed are methods for utilizing such CGRP-RCF for the treatment of diabetes, migrane, pain and inflammation, Parkinson's disease, acute heart failure, hypotension, urinary retention, osteoporosis, hypertension, angina pectoris, myocardial infarction, ulcers, asthma, allergies, psychosis, depression, vomiting, benign prostatic hypertrophy, Paget's disease, obesity, cancer, gigantism and the like. Antagonists against such CGRP-RCF and their use as a therapeutic to treat diabetes, migrane, pain and inflammation, Parkinson's disease, acute heart failure, hypotension, urinary retention, osteoporosis, hypertension, angina pectoris, myocardial infarction, ulcers, asthma, allergies, psychosis, depression, vomiting, benign prostatic hypertrophy, Paget's disease, obesity, cancer, gigantism and the like are also disclosed. Also disclosed are diagnostic assays for detecting diseases related to mutations in the nucleic acid sequences and altered concentrations of the polypeptides. Also disclosed are diagnostic assays for detecting mutations in the polynucleotides encoding the CGRP-RCF and for detecting altered levels of the polypeptide in a host.
