Summary:Detergent compositions having good filming/streaking characteristics contain effective amounts of specific substantive materials to increase the hydrophilicity of the glass. Preferred formulas contain a amphoteric, including zwitterionic, and optionally, but preferably, anionic detergent surfactant at levels (e.g., from about 0.02 to about 15%); hydrophobic solvent; alkaline material, especially volatile alkaline materials comprising monoethanolamine or certain beta-amino-alkanol compounds; and salt of polycarboxylate, preferably polyacrylate, polymer at effective levels (e.g., from about 0.01% to about 10%, by weight of the composition).
