Methods for preparing color filter elements using laser induced transfer of colorants with associated liquid crystal display device

Color filter elements are prepared by the laser induced thermal transfer of colorant from a color donor to a transparent, non-birefringent substrate such as glass or polymeric film. Transparent pigments which are less prone to migration, more thermally stable, and considerably more lightfast than dy...

Summary:Color filter elements are prepared by the laser induced thermal transfer of colorant from a color donor to a transparent, non-birefringent substrate such as glass or polymeric film. Transparent pigments which are less prone to migration, more thermally stable, and considerably more lightfast than dyes can be used to prepare the color filter elements of this invention. Color filter elements are useful for elements in color displays such as liquid crystal display devices.
