Summary:An outboard engine unit for use on small ships or boats having a small-size casing assembly. The outboard engine unit includes a casing assembly, a propeller shaft disposed horizontally in a lower portion of the casing, a propeller mounted on one end of the propeller shaft and disposed outside of the casing assembly, an engine disposed in an upper portion of the casing assembly, the engine having a vertical crankshaft and at least one horizontal cylinder, and a vertical shaft disposed vertically in the casing, for transmitting rotative power of the crankshaft to the propeller shaft. The cylinder has an axis which extends parallel to and is laterally offset from the longitudinal central axis of the casing assembly as it is viewed in plan.
