Process for production of decahydroisoquinoline

A process for the production of decahydroisoquinoline is disclosed which comprises hydrogenating isoquinoline or partially hydrogenated isoquinoline in the presence of a ruthenium catalyst at a temperature of 110 DEG C. to 230 DEG C. under a hydrogen pressure of at least 10 kg/cm2xG.
