Summary:Improvements in chromatographic column construction, resulting in facilitating packing techniques, and preparation. Use of improved column in analytical and preparative chromatographic applications produces higher efficiencies, lower solvent pressures, faster throughput, and improved resolution of components. Column construction is such, that mechanical energy can be applied longitudinally to the column outer surface, to produce standing waves or controlled vibrations in the packing. The applied energy is in the preferred form of sonic or ultrasonic vibrations.
