Summary: | A clock has an ornamental pendulum which serves an aesthetic function but does not control the clock mechanism. The pendulum is mounted for free swinging movement on an oscillating shaft in such a manner that, when the pendulum swings in synchronism with the oscillating shaft, the pendulum will be driven by the shaft, but, when the pendulum swings out of synchronism with the oscillating shaft, the pendulum will eventually stop swinging. Adjusting structure is provided to impart to the pendulum a natural period of swing which is in synchronism with the oscillating shaft. |
