Summary: | A process for the production of resols by the condensation reaction of formaldehyde, or formaldehyde donors, with a condensation resin at pH value >7 which has a phenolic OH-group content of from 6.2 to 8.5 % by weight and which has been obtained by reacting a mixture consisting of alpha , alpha '-dihydroxy-1,3-diisopropyl benzene and alpha , alpha '-dihydroxy-1,4-diisopropyl benzene in proportions by weight of from 70 : 30 to 30 : 70, with phenol or p-, m- or p-cresol or cresol mixtures in the presence of acids of phosphorus. |
