Summary:An improved impact dampening device is herein disclosed, which comprises at least two elongated members which are telescopically connected to each other so as to be plastically deformed when they are forced to longitudinally move relative to each other in response to an impact applied thereto. The dampening device may be used as part of a motor vehicle body structure so that the body structure is at least partly collapsed in a fore-and-aft direction when the motor vehicle encounters a collision at the front or rear end of the vehicle body.
