Summary:1362468 Polyester moulding composition FARBWERKE HOECHST AG 17 May 1972 [17 May 1971] 23289/72 Heading C3R A thermoplastic moulding composition comprises (a) a linear saturated polyester comprising structural units derived from an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and a saturated aliphatic or cycloaliphatic diol<and/or units derived from a hydroxycarboxylic acid, and (b) 0À05 to 2% by weight, based on polyester (a), of a cross-linked saturated polyester comprising structural units derived from terephthalic acid, a diol having from 2 to 10 carbon atoms and a cross-linking polyfunctional compound. The cross-linking polyfunctional compound may be a diglycidyl ether or ester, a diepoxide or a cyclic diepoxide. The composition may be prepared by coating granules of polyester (a) with a powder of polyester (b). The granulated moulding composition may be provided with a coating of a paraffin or a wax, and the polyesters may be mixed with other polymers, e.g. copolymers of ethylene with vinyl acetate, ethylene with acrylic esters or butadiene with styrene. The examples describe compositions comprising polyethylene terephthalate as polyester (a) and polyesters derived from terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol with cyclopentane tetracarboxylic acid, 1,1,4,4 - tetramethylol cyclohexane or bisglycidyl ether of bisphenol A as polyester (b).
