1369143 Benzoic acid anilides BAYER AG 27 April 1972 [28 April 1971] 19578/72 Heading C2C [Also in Division A5] 2-Acyloxybenzoic acid anilides of general formula in which R1 is C 1-6 alkyl or C 1-8 alkoxy, X and Y, which may be the same or different, are each Cl, Br or tert. butyl, or X is H provided that Y is nitro, or Y is H provided that X is Cl and R1 is C 1-4 alkoxy, n is 1, 2 or 3, R2 is C 1-4 alkyl, C 1-4 haloalkyl, halogen, nitro or alkylcarbonyldioxy, the radicals R2 being identical or different when n is 2 or 3, and R3 is H, C 1-4 alkyl, C 1-4 haloalkyl, C 1-4 alkoxy, C 1-4 alkylmercapto, halogen or nitro, are prepared by reacting a 2-hydroxybenzoic acid anilide of formula with a suitable acid chloride or chloroformic acid ester. The starting material 3-bromo-5-chloro- 31,51 - bis - trifluoromethyl - 2 - hydroxybenzoic acid anilide is prepared by reacting 5-chloro-3- bromo-salicylic acid chloride and 3,5-bis-trifluoromethyl aniline in xylene. The starting material 3 - bromo - 21,5 - dichloro - 2 - hydroxy- 51-trifluoro-methyl-benzoic acid anilide is prepared by reacting 3-bromo-5-chloro-2-hydroxy-benzoic acid chloride and 4-chloro-3-amino-benzenotrifluoride.
