Summary:1419407 Halogen substituted 1,4:5,8-dimethanonaphthalene derivatives UNIROYAL Inc 11 April 1973 [17 April 1972] 17297/73 Heading C2C [Also in Division C3] Novel compounds of Formula I wherein X is halogen, preferably chlorine, are prepared by reacting a hexahalocyclopentadiene (A) with 5-vinyl-2-norbornene (B) in a molar ratio of (A) to (B) of at least 2 : 1, preferably at 110‹ to 220‹ C. for 2 to 100 hours. Compounds I are useful as flame retardants for polymeric materials (see Division C3).
