Apparatus for the vertical multiple continuous casting of aluminum and aluminum alloys comprising a distributing launder for the casting metal, a plurality of water-cooled continuous casting molds, a common lowering platform movably arranged in a pit and carrying the starting dummies of all the molds in a common fashion, the molds are disposed in a fluid-tight manner in a common cooling box, the distributing launder including openings which approximately match the cross section of the molds which are disposed below the level of the openings, a jacket surrounding each mold and forms with the exterior side of the associated molds a chamber for the cooling water and has apertures in its upper part for the inlet of the cooling water from the common cooling water box, the jacket also having further apertures in its lower part for the outlet of the cooling water from the chamber.
