Summary:Apparatus for individually and successively separating heddles from a row of heddles by means of an electromagnet which is moved towards the first heddle in a row to remove that heddle to a position in which a thread may be pulled through the heddle eyelet. During the first part of the movement of the magnet away from the heddle row, the magnet receives a relatively weak current ensuring that only one heddle is taken along, and when the heddle has been sufficiently detached from the remaining heddles in the row, the current is increased to increase the holding force of the magnet. Two or more heddles may be separated from different rows in one operation, preferably with a short time interval so that they will be moved to spaced drawing-in positions. The apparatus may also be used for separating drop blades and similar object preparatory to a drawing-in operation.
