Summary:A keyboard control unit in a data applying machine for controlling a data applying mechanism for applying data to a data carrier which comprises a plurality of first elements provided on a key-operated member and a plurality of second elements connected to said data applying mechanism, at least one of the element groups being manually displaceable in an engageable position and in an unengageable position with the other. With such a keyboard control unit, the control of the data applying mechanism can be effected through a mechanical engaging relations between the first and the second elements and varying of said control can be easily effected by varying said engaging relation according to a code system of a data reading machine employed.
