Summary: | In a dual hydraulic brake system the front wheels are each provided with disc brakes or two leading shoe and drum type brakes and the rear wheels are each provided with leading-trailing shoe and drum type brakes. The higher pressure brake system is applied to the trailing shoe in the rear brake system and a portion of the front braking piston and the lower pressure brake system is applied to the leading shoe in the rear braking piston and another portion of the front braking piston. By selecting the piston areas and pressures the ratio of the braking force between the front and rear braking units can be maintained not only under normal conditions but even if one of the hydraulic systems is disabled. |
