Summary:A method of constructing multicell batteries includes placing intermittent deposits of electrodes along Zones No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3. Zone No. 1 is defined as a composite of a first continuous strip of electrically conductive plastic and a second continuous strip of electrically conductive material; intermittent deposits of positive electrodes are placed on the plastic side of Zone No. 1. Zone No. 2 is defined as a composite of a first continuous strip of electrically conductive plastic and a second continuous strip of electrically conductive material; intermittent deposits of negative electrodes are placed on the plastic side of Zone No. 2. Zone No. 3 is defined as a continuous strip of electrically conductive plastic; intermittent deposits of positive and negative electrodes are placed along Zone No. 3, each deposit of positive electrode being on the other side of a Zone No. 3 from and substantially opposite a deposit of negative electrodes. The continuous Zones with the electrodes deposited thereon are collated so that at least one Zone No. 3 is between a Zone No. 1 and a Zone No. 2, so that the electrically conductive plastics in Zone No. 1 and No. 2 are facing the inside of the collation, and so that a deposit of positive electrode on one Zone is opposite a deposit of negative electrode on an adjacent Zone. A separator and electrolyte is placed between each adjacent pair of electrodes in the collation, after which the Zones are sealed together around and between the electrode deposits.
