Summary: | 1,194,401. Antifoggants for silver halide materials. GEVAERT - AGFA N.V. Dec. 7, 1967 [March 6, 1967], No.10371/67. Heading G2C. [Also in Division C1] Photographic silver halide emulsion layers contain as antifoggant mercuric oxide. The mercuric oxide may be incorporated in said emulsion fron an aqueous dispersion containing protective colloids e.g. polyvinylalcohol, poly-N-vinyl pyrrolidone, carboxymethylcellulose, dextrin, sodium alginate, (magnesium aluminium silicate) starch or gum arabic or dispersing agents e.g. lauryl trimethyl ammonium chloride, alkylnapthalene sulphonates, di (2-ethyl hexyl) ester of sulphosuccinic acid, a compound of formula polymetaphosphates, acid phosphoric acid esters and sulphonated castor oil. The emulsion or a layer in water-permeable relationship therewith may contain other stabilizers e.g. 5-methyl-7- hydroxy-S-triazolo - [1, 5, -a] pyrimidine, benzothiazoline-2-one and 1-phenyl-2-tetrazoline- 5-thione and sensitizers e.g. polyalkylene oxides, allyl thiocyanate, allyl thiourea and sodium thiosulphate, noble metal salts and reducing agents. |
